i will be baptising my daughter soon in the byzantine catholic church. was she initially wearing a dress, or did you have to take it off later? how does the clothing aspect of all of this work?

This is a very good question, because when our son was baptized we did not know and made a faux pas. The baptismal gown is left off until after the baptism then the priest blesses it and you put it on the baby. He told us that you cannot clothe the baby in white until after the baptism. So beforehand Kristiana wore a regular outfit. We remove her clothes before we went to the baptismal font. Then toweled her off and put on her white gown.

But if you have never seen all these rites before you are in for a treat. There is a very long exorcism in the entry of the church before liturgy. I think these three rites together are the most beautiful in all the Church, even over marriage crowning.
